Designed for flexibility and convenience
With Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, you have the flexibility of going to any doctor for your treatment. If your doctor accepts Medicare assignment, that doctor will take Medicare's payment, plus the deductible and coinsurance, as payment in full.
If your doctor does not accept Medicare assignment, you will be responsible for the deductible, coinsurance, and the portion of the bill above Medicare's approved amount. Doctors who do not accept assignment are not permitted to charge more than 15 percent above what Medicare considers a reasonable fee.
If you have Horizon Medigap Plan C with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, you don't have to file any claims. Your doctor submits the claim directly to Medicare and Medicare automatically routes the balance of the claim to us for processing.
